Welcome to Extension Brown County

We apply university research, knowledge and resources to meet the needs of Brown County residents.

What is Extension?

Extension utilizes research from the University of Wisconsin in providing education and technical assistance in the areas of 1) agriculture and natural resources, and 2) youth, family and community development.

Supporting Wisconsin’s Agriculture Industry

Whether on the farm or in the field, we’re on the front lines of modern agriculture, building stronger, more productive food systems and agricultural products.  From animal management to crops and soils to financial planning, our educators and researchers help solve challenges that Wisconsin producers face.

Empowering Families and Communities

We provide individuals and families with the tools and guidance they need to adopt positive health behaviors.  Our programming focuses on nutrition, food security, food safety, chronic disease prevention, mental health, substance abuse and health insurance literacy.

Supporting Positive Youth Development

Our research-based youth enrichment programs give young people the hands-on experiences they need to grow into the global leaders of tomorrow.  From youth governance to Wisconsin 4-H clubs, we provide diverse educational opportunities to prepare youth for success in Wisconsin and beyond.

Promoting Community Gardens

These gardens create a sense of community among neighbors. Gardens provide opportunity to grow healthy, affordable, culturally appropriate food, and opportunities to provide healthy options in neighborhoods that are often food scarce.

Extension Brown County Programs

Extension addresses emerging issues related to Wisconsin’s agriculture systems with research-based outreach to advance economically sustainable, socially responsible, and environmentally sound practices.

Find resources on everything from soil to trees, water quality to plant health, and insect diagnostics.

Extension can provide information, training, and direction based on the goals of our community or organizations.

Provides garden space and logistical assistance to Brown County residents to facilitate their access to affordable, nutritious and culturally appropriate food.

4-H is the largest, informal educational program for youth in the world. 4-Hers learn leadership, citizenship, and life skills as they work on 4-H projects and participate in a variety of activities in their club and county.
